Jumia, an E-Commerce company operating in 14 countries across Africa (see my Blog entry from December 2018), has filed to go public on the NYSE under the symbol JMIA. A Bloomberg report from last month indicated an offering would value the company at about $1.5 billion.
Headquartered in Berlin, Jumia is backed by MTN Group (29.7% pre-IPO stake) and Rocket Internet (20.6%) and received earlier VC funding from Summit Partners and JP Morgan Asset Management.
This gives a nice glimpse of the huge future of E-Commerce in Africa!
